English: The shields body is divided into four quarters. In the upper left quarter, a dog with a torch in its mouth represents fidelity and civilization ,in the upper right, palm trees, which are symbols of Baracoa's flora and typical local landscape, in the lower left, the Bay of Baracoa with 3 ships , the anvil and first urban establishment, and in the lower right, one of the ships of the expedition in which Diego Velázquez arrived at the coast of Baracoa.

Español: El cuerpo del escudo está dividido en cuatro cuartos. En el cuartel superior izquierdo, un perro con una antorcha en la boca representa la fidelidad y la civilización ,en el superior derecho, las palmeras, que son símbolos de la flora de Baracoa y del paisaje típico de la zona, en el inferior izquierdo, la bahía de Baracoa con 3 barcos , el yunque y el primer establecimiento urbano, y en el inferior derecho, uno de los barcos de la expedición en la que Diego Velázquez llegó a la costa de Baracoa.
