Richard OWEN, FRS (20a Julio 1804 – 18a Decembro 1892) estis angla biologo, komparanatomisto kaj paleontologo. Spite polemikan figuron, Owen estas ĝenerale konsiderata elstara naturalisto kun rimarkinda alporto al interpretado de fosilioj.

Owen produktis ampleksan kvanton de scienca verkaro, sed estas probable plej memorita nune pro sia stampado de la vorto Dinosauria (signife "Terura Reptilio" aŭ "Timige Granda Reptilio"). Owen estas rememorita ankaŭ pro sia evidenta kontraŭstaro al la teorioj pri evoluado per natura selekto de Charles Darwin. Li interkonsentis kun Darwin ke evoluado okazis, sed li pensis, ke ĝi estis pli komplika ol tiu skizita en la verko de Darwin On the Origin of Species.[1] La alproksimiĝo de Owen al evoluado povas esti vidata kiel antaŭaĵo de la atento al la ĵusa apero de la evoludisvolviĝa biologio.[2] Owen estas konata ankaŭ pro sia kampanjo por ke la naturaj specimenoj de la Brita Muzeo havu novan hejmon.
