Jenson militservis en usona mararmeo dum la Dua Mondmilito.
Li diplomiĝis ĉe UCLA kaj iĝis profesia ludisto de kanada futbalo de 1951 ĝis 1957 ludante en teamoj Calgary Stampeders kaj BC Lions.
Jenson komencis sian karieron kiel stuntisto en 1949 en kino per Samson and Delilah kaj en televido per The Restless Gun (1957). Kiel aktoro li debutis per kinfilmo Westward the Women en 1951 kaj en televido li komencis per Tales of the Texas Rangers en 1957.
