Ni konas multan studojn pri ofteco de la miopio, sed ili ne uzis la saman metodon, do ilia konsekvoj ne estas kompreblajkompareblaj. Ankaŭ la elektado de la subjektaro influis la rezultojn. Ĝi estas pli ofta inter studentoj ol inter soldatoj; pli ofta inter lernejaj infanoj, ol inter infanoj pli junaj. Ne estas generala konformeco, kiel granda povas esti la miopio, kiun la akomodo de la okulo kompensi povas. Ili uzas diversajn faktorojn inter -0,25 kaj -1 dioptrio.
