Piratado

Piratado estas tipe ago de rabo aŭ krima perforto sur maro. La esprimo povas inkludi agojn faritajn surtere, en la aero, aŭ en aliaj gravaj korpoj de akvo aŭ sur marbordo. Ĝi ne normale inkludas krimojn faritajn kontraŭ personoj vojaĝantaj sur la sama ŝipo kiel la krimulo mem (ekz. unu pasaĝero ŝtelanta de aliaj sur la sama ŝipo). La esprimo estis uzita dum historio por rilati al atakoj trans teraj limoj de ne-ŝtataj agentoj.

Piratado aŭ pirateco estas la nomo de specifa krimo sub kutima internacia juro kaj ankaŭ la nomo de kelkaj krimoj sub la municipa juro de kelkaj ŝtatoj. Ĝi estas distingita de korsarado, kiu estas rajtigita fare de naciaj aŭtoritatoj kaj tial legitima formo de militema agado fare de ne-ŝtataj aktoroj. Piratado estas konsiderita komerca rabado, kaj estis eksterleĝigita fare de la Vestfalia Paco (1648) fare de la subskribintoj de tiuj traktatoj.
