J. G. Ballard

James Graham BALLARD (la 15-an‏ de novembro 1930 - la 19-an de aprilo 2009 ) estis brita verkisto, unu el la plej konataj verkistoj de la "nova ondo" de sciencfikcio. Liaj plej konataj romanoj estas la kontestata Crash kaj la aŭtobiografia romano Imperio de la Suno, kiu traktas liajn travivaĵoj dum la Dua Mondmilito en japana internigejo. Ambaŭ romanoj estis adaptitaj al filmoj: Empire of the Sun, reĝisorita de Steven Spielberg en 1987 kaj Crash, reĝisorita de David Cronenberg en 1996.

Vivo

La patro de Ballard estis apotekisto por granda teksaĵa firmao, kaj estis nomumita prezidanto kaj manaĝero de la firmao en Ŝanhajo, kie Ballard naskiĝis. Ballard pasigis sian fruan infanaĝon en la internacia setlejo en Ŝanhajo, kiu estis dominita per britaj interesoj inter 1843 kaj 1941. Li estis sendita studi ĉe la Ŝanhaja Katedralo.
